Red Skelton Pledge Of Allegiance Video Free Download
In 1969, Red Skelton gave his personal view of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The statement he made at the stop, I think, tells it all.
Carmine Skelton, one of America'southward best loved Comedians and star of Motility Pictures, Radio and Television, was likewise a truthful Patriot. A man who loved his State, its Flag and the Freedom America stood for. On January 14, 1969, Red touched the hearts of millions of Americans with his "Pledge Of Allegiance," in which he explained the significant of each and every word. Reddish'due south "Pledge" was twice read into the Congressional Tape of the U.s. and received numerous awards.
Red Skelton - What the Pledge means to ME
This was kickoff broadcast on:
From The Scarlet Skelton Hour, CBS TV, Jan fourteen, 1969.
COPYRIGHT 1969 RICHARD Ruddy SKELTON
I recall this i instructor. To me, he was the greatest instructor, a existent sage of my fourth dimension.
He had such wisdom. We were all reciting the Pledge of Fidelity ane day, and he walked over.
Mr. Lasswell was his name.
He said, "I've been listening to y'all boys and girls recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester, and it seems every bit though it is becoming monotonous to you lot.
If I may, may I recite it and endeavor to explain to you lot the meaning of each word?"
I: me, an individual, a committee of one.
PLEDGE: dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
ALLEGIANCE: my love and my devotion.
TO THE FLAG: our standard, Old Glory, a symbol of freedom.
Wherever she waves, there is respect because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts freedom is everybody's job.
OF THE
UNITED: that ways that we take all come up together.
STATES: individual communities that have united into 48 keen states.
Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose, all divided with imaginary boundaries yet united to a common purpose, and that's love for country.
OF AMERICA
AND TO THE REPUBLIC: a country in which sovereign ability is vested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people and it'southward from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
FOR WHICH Information technology STANDS
ONE NATION: meaning, so blest by God.
INDIVISIBLE: incapable of being divided.
WITH LIBERTY: which is freedom, the right of power to alive one's own life without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
AND JUSTICE: the principle or quality of dealing adequately with others.
FOR ALL: which ways, boys and girls, it's equally much your state as it is mine.
Since I was a pocket-size boy, two states have been added to our land and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under GOD
Wouldn't information technology exist a pity if someone said, "That is a prayer," and that would exist eliminated from schools, also?

I first heard this pledge on the T Five from Mr. Skelton. I remember it is even more than needed today than it was back then. I loved to see the Red Skelton program on T V. I thought he retired much to early in his life. This pledge needs to be read in Congress once more. God Bless America, my abode.

ii-3-2016 Today, I posted my thoughts on the Pledge of Allegiance and suggested that the Children of our Nation mind to and/or read Ruddy Skelton's caption of what the pledge ment to him (personally). When I wars a child in public school we saluted the American flag and Recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Us kids did not actually know, understand what information technology meant, we just repeated the words we memorized. That is why I wrote today, that the nations children should listen to Red Skelton's spoken language of the Pledge. Do I know 'it' @ 79 yrs old give-and-take for word, not sure, but I do known what it meant and what information technology ways today. Bruce W. Grand. Navy (Korean War) Veteran & Volunteer @ the VA & SD CA Naval Hospitals. God bless OUR America.

In the Early 1980's I was a Army Individual Eastward-1, when I hear Mr, Skeltons rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance. I was moved then, as I am now remembering these words spoken. I too believe the children of today need to hear, and understand what these words meant to all who went to war, and served in peacetime. God Bless the United States of America.

I remember this well. I was in Viet Nam with 1 more month before going dwelling house. It'southward hard to explicate today what it meant back then vs. what it means today. Information technology does mean the aforementioned, but why is it, information technology's hard to empathise that politicians don't grasp the argument "We the People". I miss Ruby and what he meant to families all over America. He will be missed for many years to come.

Reds explanation should be taught in our schools. I don't feel that information technology's a prayer, it's a pledge. Calculation "under God" merely shows our respect and faith in our creator.

At the time Red Skelton stated this in 1969 there were actually 50 states, Alaska and Hawai were both granted statehood in 1959. Mr. Skelton stated The Usa of America and so went on to state that 48 states with imaginary borders. What is the reason he did not say l states to go far current to 1969? Did he actually record this prior to the admission of Alaska and Hawai to the Union but stated it publically on Jan 14,1969?
Jul 04, 2017 - Dan Tobias
Neb, Red says "48 states" because when his teacher/principal explained this, he was in high schoolhouse, and at that time there were only 48 states.
I will be honored to read Reddish's monologue at a local service for this July 4. With current events, it is as relevant today as e'er.

I entertained the reidents of dominicus urban center texas on July ane, 2017 with red's pledge. I introduced the pledge with the following:
"Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance deals with schoolkids reciting the pledge"
schoolkids: what are somethings they exercise outside of academics.
Dodgeball has been eliminated from school
Tag has been eliminated from recess
If a child brought a fountainpen to school the kid would be suspended for bringing a weapon to school and the pen would exist eliminated
but I digress.
I at present perform the pledge:
I then followed this with his pledge.
At the end of the pledge I included one of Reddish's endmost passages which says everything about the human being:
If you remember a silly footling thing I've said or washed and it brings a grin to your face or a chuckle to your middle and so my human action as a clown has been rewarded.
expert night and G-d anoint.

These folks similar Ruby-red, are what is disappearing in America. That profound sense of loyalty to our country seems to exist passe! We were a divided nation in 1941 then it took a national tragedy to bring us back together. When the towers came down on nine/xi, once again a tragedy brought u.s.a. together. Now, again a deeply divided nation, media screaming to destroy the elected president, protests, violence, all these actions could be identified as treason to the USA. Then? Isn't it obvious what the solution will be to re-unite our country? Such a sad solution!!

What values defined Gerald Ford's character? Gerald Ford was the first and only man to hold the role of president who was never elected to the office of vice-president or president. Openness and honesty: Martha Griffiths said: "In all the years I sat in the House, I never knew Mr. Ford to make a dishonest statement nor a statement function-true and office-false. He never attempted to shade a statement, and I never heard him utter an unkind word." In hindsight, he had respectably discharged with considerable dignity a neat responsibility that he had not sought.
Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, is ranked very highly for preserving the Union in the midst of the Civil War. Amid his greatest accomplishments: the Gettysburg Accost, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the 13th Subpoena.
Ford granted Richard Nixon an unconditional pardon. In October 1974, Nixon vicious ill with phlebitis. Nixon's doctors advised him that he could be operated on, or die. Nixon chose to undergo the operation, and Ford visited Nixon in the hospital. Ford pardoned Nixon, who was ailing, so Nixon could alive. Nixon released a statement: "I was wrong in not acting more than decisively and more forthrightly in dealing with Watergate, particularly when it reached the stage of judicial proceedings and grew from a political scandal into a national tragedy. No words can draw the depth of my regret and hurting at the ache my mistakes over Watergate have caused the nation and the presidency."

Its quite amazing that people of true graphic symbol can make such a uncomplicated concept embody the thoughts and feelings of the author. It is people like Carmine Skelton that bear on the lives of people in profound ways for the betterment of society, land, country and world. He and his thoughts apply beyond fourth dimension and boundaries. We should all feel blessed to take been exposed to his humor and his humanity.

Ruby-red was and is on of the funniest comedians. I was able to see him perform i time in Indianapolis at the Indiana Land Fair. I am proud to have been built-in in the aforementioned urban center every bit Reddish, Vincennes, IN. An arrangement that I was a member of would exercise flag retirement ceremonies. We used Ruby'south Pledge of Allegiance in our ceremony. We did retirement ceremonies for veterans at a rest home for veterans That was not easy to exercise for veterans that had fought for that flag. It was a privilege for me to say thank you for your service by doing the ceremony. I live about10 miles from Ft. Campbell. When I eat out and in that location are soldiers there, I like to pay for their meal as a fashion of saying thanks for your service. Try it some time and you will go a good feeling from what y'all just did.

Those words are more of import today than any other time, in my life, and I am nearing 71.
God rest Mr Skelton'south soul. He was a comedian and entertainer who could bring a express joy to your lips, or a tear to your eye, quicker than any other before or since.
And concluding, merely certainly not least, he was a good, decent and honorable man.
